The greatest gift we can give our children is the gift of technology. We give them this world for their own benefit, to grow and learn and be creative, but at the same time, we need to teach them how to think for themselves and adapt to change.
Children without technology don’t have a chance of developing into adults with a true desire to be free and inventive. I’ve read many studies that tell me that if we don’t develop our children’s learning and technology abilities, they may never go on to be the adults they should be.
Technology Is A Blessing:
It’s a very slow process for a child to begin to open up and become more creative, but it happens over time. These children are indeed the most special, so it’s sad that we’d rather they were stuck in the past. So, what should you do if your child wants a tablet computer for Christmas this year?
First of all, think about the parent-child relationship in your family and consider the options available to you. There are thousands of different styles and kinds of electronic devices out there that would be perfect for your child, depending on your child’s needs.
If your child is old enough, you can try to convince them to accept the tablet computer, even if it’s not the right one for them. Tell them they have such a great new toy that you can’t imagine any other option. Do this with every toy that comes along.
You can also use technology to your child’s advantage, by teaching them to see technology as a teacher’s aide. Teach them to see technology as an important tool for learning, and to see other people using technology as an opportunity to learn new things. Be sure to tell them that it’s OK to show some pride when they use technology, especially if it’s for a good cause.
Next, if your child is young enough, let them feel a little bit responsible. For example, let them know that they have to turn off the screen and then unplug it, or take it outside to be repaired. Don’t get hysterical, just let them know that it’s their responsibility to do what they’re supposed to do.
Let them know that when they’re ready to learn something new, they should approach you with a question about that subject, even if it’s something as small as what color buttons do on an LCD? This will give them an early experience of asking questions and will make them feel like they’re in control of their education.
Technology is here to stay. It’s something that is really needed in today’s world. It’s something that we cannot turn away from, but we also need to learn how to properly use it.
A parent and a child have a lot in common, in terms of goals and dreams, and a child will learn a lot from the best parent in the world. But the best parent is the one who helps their child to explore the world without them.
Remember, not all children will develop the same ways, and what works for one child may not work for another. With that in mind, find a combination of teaching your child to use technology in a responsible way and teaching them to ask questions and to learn.
Today’s world requires a lot of education, and it’s a joy to see the technological gifts that we give our children. However, children need parents to help them embrace this new technological world, not to keep them locked in the past.
